Through the Breach RPG - Penny Dreadful One Shot - Beneath the Baumwood
by Michael J.
Publisher: Wyrd Miniatures
Date Added: 10/23/2021 18:00:17
Through the Breach RPG - Penny Dreadful One Shot - Beneath the Baumwood **Overall thoughts:** This is a neat little oneshot that can be easily dropped into a campaign session to have your Fated go on a Spooky Adventure into the potentially deadly Baumwood. It's well written and illustrated meaning GM's of all experience levels could easily run this and have their players walk away happy with their experience. 5/5 Stars. **Art:** Done in Wyrd's characteristic style, the illustrations and artwork throughout this One Shot are equal parts charming as they are spooky. My favourites have to be the Bedeviled Kettle (As seen on the cover) or the Little Red Riding Hood inspired character found on page 7. I think it would have been nice to maybe get a piece or two of the Braumwood based on this specific One shot, but that also lets the Fated's imagination run wild when it comes to the unfortunate situation in which they have found themselves. **Story:** The flexibility of the set up for this One Shot allows GM's to easily drop this into a...

Classes of Distinction
by David T.
Publisher: Dan Coleman Productions
Date Added: 10/23/2021 17:23:14
Classes of Distinction This contains 9 new class options for 5e D&D, some are good and others not so, but at this price it's hard to complain and it's fairly subjective whether you like something or not. For example, I'm not keen on the chronomancer, if I wanted to mess about with time I'd play Doctor Who, other people might think it's great. I especially liked that this came in 2 versions, I nice printer friendly version for thos classes you choose to use and the deluxe version.

Somnus Domina: The Sword Saint (5e Class)
by Ariel R.

Somnus Domina: The Sword Saint (5e Class) Prefacing this by saying that I'm by no means an expert on game design, balance, etc. Just from my personal experiences DMing for a Sword Saint character, theorycrafting, etc. In the base class, I think every part of it is amazing and fairly balanced, with only the Spiritual Armor feature feeling a little underwhelming compared to other options available. I would love if the capstone feature was a bit more interesting, but being able to mix and match even more focus techniques is already insanely powerful and games rarely reach level 20, so I can't complain too much. In the Paths of Devotion that come with the base class, there are a few features that define the subclass and make them interesting to me in their own ways. 1.) Way of Blue Metal is insanely versatile and it's ability to select focus techniques from other subclasses only makes it better with time as more subclasses are released. It's versatility makes it almost impossible to not be a viable option an...

3 Dice Dungeon Master
by Bob V. G.

3 Dice Dungeon Master For the last few days I have soloed my way through 3 Dice Dungeon Master (DriveThruRPG, 5 pages). I would describe it as an inexpensive version of Four Against Darkness using one character. I could have played it as it is, but I wanted to “spice it up”. So, I used the thief rules found in Dungeon Crawl Classics, and I used OSR Solo as the solo engine. This PDF does include a link to 3 Dice Dungeon and I recommend that you take a look at that too. So, my thief Char found a dungeon, explored three rooms, found a Tome of Clear Thought, a magic wizard hat, and a small dragon. He killed the small dragon, grabbed the gold pieces, and got the heck out of there. In town, he attempted to pick pocket a businessman, but he was caught by the thieves guild. They forced him to join their guild. Well, they did have a nice place where you could sleep. So, he slept there, got up, searched out of town, and found another dungeon. This one was bigger and had traps and locked doors. He explored eight room...

Bastard Big Guns

Bastard Big Guns Full Disclosure...I don't play 5E. But I have played Basic thru 3.5 religiously when I was younger and there weren't a lot of other RPGs out there. I purchased BBG because I have always "modded/hacked"out my own versions of TSR/WotC's flagship product since I began playing in the 70s and I wanted to see what changes BBG suggested. Quick and dirty review: AC - Changed to Damage reduction - Makes more since and with the new "Defense" mechanism inside, works perfect. Alignment - Changed to Aspects or reminescent of the Archetypes found in the original Star Wars movie, i.e. Ancient Mentor, Brash Youth, Damsel in Distress, Scoundrel, etc. Named differently in BBG but similar enouch to cover a wide array of character types. Damage changes - Now with maiming and extra damage with good hits. More to come later, have to go to work......

The Silence of Dawnfell
by Jakob S.
Publisher: Open Ended Games, Inc.
Date Added: 10/23/2021 13:29:22
The Silence of Dawnfell I fear that I might be a little unfair towards this adventure: It is a good one, but I'm reading it right on the heels of "Shadows of the Northern Woods", which is a tough act to follow. Especially since a lot of motives and themes of Dawnfell are reminiscent of SotNW: Again, there's a small village to be saved, free folk who have become estranged from each other and must be brought back together, a magical McGuffin that the bad guys are after and a climatic battle where the outcome depends hugely on how many checkmarks the characters were able to make on their adventurous to-do list in advance. In both adventures, we have spiders in the woods and ancient burial sites hiding treasures and answers. Even some of the NPCs feel like variations on a theme when compared to SotNW (Annis/Beltine, Wulfric/Brynjar, Morcant and his She-Wolf/Urgusk and his Mountain-Lion). It's hard to say if, playing both scenarios back to back in an actual campaign, this would feel like a...

The Sword of Caine: A V5 Guide to the Sabbat
by Ismael A.
Publisher: White Wolf
Date Added: 10/23/2021 10:17:56
The Sword of Caine: A V5 Guide to the Sabbat In my honest opinion, the book is way more useful for players and STs than the official Sabbat book. The lore is very interesting, especially for some clans such as the Salubri antitribu. The best part concerns the path systems to replace humanity on V5. Brilliant. The art is also very beautiful. As an ST, using this, alongside the official V5 Sabbat book, will be a must for Sabbat chronicles, since it fills all the gaps that the main book doesn't. 5 out of 5, praise Caine for this one!

Helvéczia: Picaresque RPG
by Thiago S.
Publisher: First Hungarian d20 Society

Helvéczia: Picaresque RPG I was pleasantly surprise when I got this book. The layout and art makes it look like a novel from the time (17th century Europe). I was Impressed that all are of public domain art, very well done. The writing is made in a way that resembles the language of the time as well, but without being cumbersome, the author's domain of the english language is unparalled, impressive that it is not his first language. The rules are very clear, direct to the point and a very well thought and streamlined version of the D20 system (with A LOT of OSR sensibilities). The Peoples, religion, classes, spells and customs in the book was all made in a very flavourful, funny and respectful way, at least in my random dude's internet view of things. I don't know S### about Switzerland's history, but after reading this, I want to. And this book is well worth just for the DM's part alone. I'm using some of the new (at least new for me) rules in my other OSR games. Ver...
